The design idea was simple....

Create a vessel that was safe for children, but was able to feed their imagination.
A craft that could traverse both the channel and shallow waterways of the Manasquan River.

The original conception involved creating a covered area for our pirate parents and
Captain's ship wheel to navigate this magnificent ship.

Next was the creation of a safe and secure seating area for our Maties or Mermaids...
no one heads to Davey Jones's Locker on this vessel.



Our ideas then led us to prepare the vessel with rope ladder access to the crows nest and authentic pirate Brethren flags to advise neighboring vessels to beware of our presence....

Our vessel would not be one of strength if it was not armed with cannons... water cannons to repel any possible attacks from pirates trying to steal our treasure....

Finally, a name... the S.S. Jersey Girl as our tribute to the greatest legend of the Seven Seas,
Bruce Springsteen because this idea was "Born in the USA."
